Visiting Washington DC

‘It is better to see something once than read about it 1000 times.’

Washington DC is a city full of history and politics and, having studied both at University, I was intrigued to see so many of the places and events I studied.  In many ways, it’s a tragic city- memorials to three of the greatest figures in American history dominate the city.  How different would American history be if it wasn’t for the assassinations of JFK, Martin Luther King and Abraham Lincoln?

The stunning Arlington Cemetery and the many war memorials around the city are constant reminders of the many wars America have been involved in since the Revolution in 1765.  It’s a photogenic city and the beautiful autumn weather I encountered most definitely helped.  The pictures below are just a snapshot of the highlights from one of the most interesting cities I have visited.
